The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) chairs the National Payments Committee (NPC), the mandate of whose entails developing and implementing a national payments policy as well as monitoring new developments in the market with a view to fostering change.
The NPC is composed of, amongst others, representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, representatives from the supply and demand sides of the market and the Cyprus representative of the European Payments Council.
The NPC is the national counterpart of the Euro Retail Payments Board (ERPB) and serves as a national forum, which facilitates the exchange of views amongst representatives and links the national market to the European level (i.e. the ERPB and the European Forum for Innovation in Payments (EFIP)).
