The CBC wishes to clarify that:
- Following the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and the Eurogroup, the Bank of Cyprus (BoC) acquired on 29 March 2013 the Cyprus operations of the Cyprus Popular Bank Public Company Ltd (CPB).
- The BoC, together with all the rest of the credit institutions in Cyprus, are operating normally within the restrictive measures on transactions applied in order to protect the banking system and maintain liquidity. It should be noted that since the restrictions were introduced on 27 March 2013 they have been relaxed and further relaxations are being considered for implementation soon.
- All accounts maintained with other credit institutions in Cyprus are accessible for receiving and making payments.
