Conclusion of the Visit of the Vice President of the European Central Bank, Louis De Guindos, to Cyprus

The Vice President of the European Central Bank (ECB), Mr. Luis De Guindos, concluded a very productive visit to Cyprus. The visit came as a result of an invitation from the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), Mr. Constantinos Herodotou, and resulted in fruitful discussions.

During his visit to Cyprus, Mr. De Guindos met with the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides, underscoring the significance of the relations between the ECB and Cyprus, and their shared vision for the future of Europe's monetary and financial system.

The Vice - President of the ECB was the keynote speaker at the 1st Central Bank of Cyprus Annual Conference "The Role of Monetary Policy in Tackling Inflationary Pressures'', where he elaborated on the current challenges facing the European economy and ECB’s strategies to address them.

Governor Herodotou commented, "We were privileged to host Mr. De Guindos and we appreciate the knowledge and perspectives he brought to our Annual Conference. His visit reinforces the collaborative spirit between the CBC and the ECB, and we will continue working constructively for the benefit of the European economy and people. I wish to personally thank him for his time and valuable insights".

Mr. De Guindos noted, "I had very productive meetings with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides and Governor Herodotou. I am very pleased to see the remarkable achievements of Cyprus over the last decade which are so important for the economy and the society alike. I would also like to highlight the extremely good cooperation that the ECB has with the Central Bank of Cyprus and the valuable contributions of Governor Herodotou at the ECB’s Governing Council."

The successful conclusion of Mr. De Guindos' visit cements the ongoing commitment of the ECB and the CBC in fostering a resilient and dynamic financial environment for the European Union.
