Nobel Prize awarded to Christopher Pissarides

The Central Bank of Cyprus extends its warm congratulations to Professor Christopher Pissarides on being awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences together with Peter A. Diamond and Dale Mortensen. 

The award of this distinguished prize to Professor Pissarides represents an honour for his home country, Cyprus, as well as for the Central Bank of Cyprus. Professor Pissarides served as a member of the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee from November 2000 until Cyprus joined the euro area on the 1st of January 2008. The prize recognises Professor Pissarides’ contribution to economics, especially in the field of labour economics.
