The Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Panicos Demetriades, has returned from his business trip to Lebanon where he met with his counterpart, Riad Salemeh and the chairmen of Byblos Bank and Blom Bank as well as the President of the Banque Libano- Française.
During the meetings, Mr Demetriades was reassured that these banks would like to forge closer relations with Cyprus. One of the practical outcomes was that a banking conference will be held early next year in Cyprus, organised by the Association of the Banks in Lebanon.
