The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) welcomes the publication on 26th June of the Interim Report of the Independent Commission on the Future of the Cyprus Banking Sector.
The report makes an extensive series of interim recommendations which the CBC is considering carefully. A number of the Commission's interim recommendations relate to matters which fall within the competence of Government and the House of Representatives or other regulatory agencies and the CBC looks forward to working closely with the relevant departments and agencies, in order to determine how action in relation to each of the interim recommendations might best be carried forward.
The CBC notes that the Commission is looking forward to receiving comments and feedback on its interim report by end-July so that it might proceed to final recommendations by end-November. The CBC encourages interested parties to contribute to this consultation process so that the final report may furnish the fullest possible contribution to the speedy restoration of the Cypriot financial sector.
