The Central Bank of Cyprus released today the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of December 2015, which are included in the January 2016 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics.
Total deposits in December 2015 recorded a net increase of €203,0 million, compared with a net decrease of €67,9 million in November 2015. The annual growth rate stood at 0,2%, compared with 0,1% in November 2015. The outstanding amount of deposits reached €46,0 billion in December 2015.
Total loans in December 2015 exhibited a net increase of €307,7 million, compared with a net decrease of €493,2 million in November 2015. The annual growth rate stood at -3,4%, compared with -3,2% in November 2015. The outstanding amount of loans reached €62,8 billion in December 2015.
It is noted that the outstanding amounts of deposits and loans for December 2015 do not include the corresponding amounts of FBME Bank Ltd, whose banking licence was revoked on 21 December 2015. However, net transactions and annual growth rates are not affected by this development.
