The Central Bank of Cyprus announces the issue of three collector coins, in gold, silver and cupronickel of a nominal value £20, £1 and £1 respectively, to commemorate the accession of Cyprus to the European Union.
The coins have a common design, by Clara Zacharaki-Georgiou. They depict Triton, a sea god, trumpeting the birth of Aphrodite, and the year of issue, 2004. The coins were minted by the Polish State Mint.
The number of coins issued is limited, as shown below and the selling prices, including VAT, in Cyprus Pounds for deliveries over the counter are as follows:

For coins to be despatched abroad, prices are quoted in euros in the appended price list.
The Central Bank of Cyprus will accept applications for the purchase of coins, provided they are accompanied by the respective amount, from Monday, 11 October, 2004 until Friday 29 October, 2004. The Central Bank of Cyprus reserves the right, by an announcement in the local press and on the website, to terminate the application period when the available quantities are covered.
The maximum number of coins that may be allocated to any person is 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 cupronickel coins. Applications through the post will be accepted, provided the envelope bears the stamp of the post office with a date that falls within the application period (11-29/10/2004) or, in case the Central Bank of Cyprus announces an earlier termination of the application period, the envelope bears a stamp with a date prior to the announcement.
