A conference of interested parties has been called at the Central Bank of Cyprus for next Monday 30 December, 2002 at 11:30 am for the exchange of views in connection with matters relating to the Instructions for the Central Information Registry for issuers of dishonoured cheques, as agreed at the last meeting of the Parliamentary Committee of Economics.

Invitations to participate in the conference have been sent to the members of the Parliamentary Committees on Economics and Legal matters, the Commissioner of Cooperative Societies, the Ministry of Finance, the Attorney General’s Office, the Association of Commercial Banks, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Organisation of Employers and Industrialists, and the Shop-Owners and Traders Organisation.

The matters that will be discussed during the conference will relate to the criteria for the recording of a person in the Register, the severity of the consequences of a recording in the Register and the possibility of extending the application of the provisions relating to post-dated cheques beyond the 1st of July 2003.

As already announced the Instructions for the Central Information Registry will finally come into force on 1st  February. 2003.
