The Central Bank of Cyprus has today released the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of April 2026, which are included in the May 2026 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics.
Total deposits in April 2026 recorded a net decrease1 of €123,1 million, compared with a net increase of €426,8 million in March 2026. The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 4,5%, compared with 5,6% in March 2026. The outstanding amount of total deposits reached €57,6 billion in April 2026.
Deposits of Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €30,1 million. More analytically, deposits of households and non-financial corporations increased by €122,6 million and €63,0 million respectively. Deposits of the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total decrease of €155,5 million.
Total loans in April 2026 recorded a net increase of €40,5 million, compared with a net increase of €528,1 million in March 2026. The annual growth rate of total loans stood at 12,0%, compared with 12,6% in March 2026. The outstanding amount of total loans reached €27,8 billion in April 2026.
Loans to Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €76,1 million. More analytically, loans to households decreased by €12,1 million, while loans to non-financial corporations recorded an increase of €71,7 million. Loans to the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total increase of €16,6 million.
