The Central Bank of Cyprus has today released the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of February 2025, which are included in the March 2025 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics.
Total deposits in February 2025 recorded a net increase1 of €498,3 million, compared with a net decrease of €211,3 million in January 2025. It should be noted that the above increase includes deposits arisen from receipts of Hellenic Bank shareholders, from the sale of their shares to Eurobank S.A. The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 7,7%, compared with 6,9% in January 2025. The outstanding amount of total deposits reached €56,2 billion in February 2025.
Deposits of Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €535,9 million. More analytically, households’ deposits increased by €237,6 million, while deposits of non-financial corporations recorded a decrease of €186,2 million. Deposits of the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total increase of €484,5 million.
Total loans in February 2025 recorded a net increase of €42,7 million, compared with a net decrease of €45,6 million in January 2025. The annual growth rate of total loans stood at 1,9%, compared with 3,2% in January 2025. The outstanding amount of total loans reached €25,4 billion in February 2025.
Loans to Cyprus residents exhibited a decrease of €4,9 million. More analytically, loans to households and non-financial corporations decreased by €8,8 million and €38,3 million respectively. Loans to the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total increase of €42,2 million.
