The Central Bank of Cyprus has today released the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of May 2025, which are included in the June 2025 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics.
Total deposits in May 2025 recorded a net increase1 of €20,8 million, compared with a net increase of €492,9 million in April 2025. The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 5,8%, compared with 7,6% in April 2025. The outstanding amount of total deposits reached €56,1 billion in May 2025.
Deposits of Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €24,6 million. More analytically, deposits of households and non-financial corporations increased by €164,5 million and €138,0 million respectively. Deposits of the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total decrease of €278,0 million.
Total loans in May 2025 recorded a net increase of €116,8 million, compared with a net increase of €169,1 million in April 2025. The annual growth rate of total loans stood at 5,1%, compared with 4,9% in April 2025. The outstanding amount of total loans reached €25,7 billion in May 2025.
Loans to Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €2,6 million. More analytically, loans to households increased by €15,1 million, while loans to non-financial corporations recorded a decrease of €6,2 million. Loans to the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total decrease of €6,3 million.
