The Central Bank of Cyprus has today released the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of June 2024, which are included in the July 2024 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics.
Total deposits in June 2024 recorded a net decrease1 of €44,1 million, compared with a net increase of €925,7 million in May 2024. The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 2,0%, compared with 2,8% in May 2024. The outstanding amount of total deposits reached €53,4 billion in June 2024.
Deposits of Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €86,2 million. More analytically, deposits of households and non-financial corporations increased by €40,0 million and €259,8 million respectively. Deposits of the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total decrease οf €213,6 million.
Total loans in June 2024 recorded a net increase of €234,6 million, compared with a net increase of €70,2 million in May 2024. The annual growth rate of total loans stood at 1,6%, compared with 1,2% in May 2024. The outstanding amount of total loans reached €25,1 billion in June 2024.
Loans to Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €176,9 million. More analytically, loans to households and non-financial corporations increased by €83,3 million and €115,0 million respectively. Loans to the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total decrease of €21,4 million.
