The Central Bank of Cyprus has today released the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of May 2017, which are included in the June 2017 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics.
Total deposits in May 2017 recorded a net increase of €168,8 million, compared with a net decrease of €155,4 million in April 2017. The annual growth rate stood at 5,9%, compared with 6,4% in April 2017. The outstanding amount of deposits reached €49,1 billion in May 2017.
Total loans in May 2017 exhibited a net decrease of €193,6 million, compared with a net decrease of €91,6 million in April 2017. The annual growth rate stood at -1,6%, compared with -5,0% in April 2017. The improvement of the annual growth rate resulted from the much lower net decrease of loans in May 2017, compared with May 2016 (-€2,1 billion). Τhe outstanding amount of loans reached €54,1 billion in May 2017.
