The Central Bank of Cyprus has today released the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of December 2017, which are included in the January 2018 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics.
Total deposits in December 2017 recorded a net increase of €259,0 million, compared with a net decrease of €96,4 million in November 2017. The annual growth rate stood at 3,1%, compared with 2,4% in November 2017. The outstanding amount of deposits reached €49,4 billion in December 2017.
Total loans in December 2017 exhibited a net increase of €2,2 million, compared with a net increase of €32,6 million in November 2017. The outstanding amount of total loans decreased by €755,4 million in December 2017 and reached €51,4 billion. The difference between the net change and the change of the outstanding amount of total loans is attributed to reclassification, revaluation, exchange rate or other adjustments. The annual growth rate stood at -1,7%, compared with -1,6% in November 2017.
