The Central Bank of Cyprus has today released the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of December 2019, which are included in the January 2020 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics.
Total deposits in December 2019 recorded a net increase of €295,8 million, compared with a net decrease of €84,1 million in November 2019. The annual growth rate reached 1,9%, compared with 2,2% in November 2019. The outstanding amount of deposits reached €48,7 billion in December 2019.
Total loans in December 2019 exhibited a net decrease of €1,8 billion, compared with a net increase of €34,9 million in November 2019. The outstanding amount of total loans decreased by €0,5 billion in December 2019 and reached €33,7 billion. The difference between the net decrease and the decrease of the outstanding amount of total loans is attributed to reclassification, revaluation, exchange rate or other adjustments. The annual growth rate declined to -4,3%, compared with 1,3% November 2019.
