Monetary Financial Institutions (MFIs) Deposits and Loans Statistics

The Central Bank of Cyprus has today released the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of March 2026, which are included in the April 2026 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics.

Total deposits in March 2026 recorded a net increase1 of €426,8 million, compared with a net increase of €202,2 million in February 2026. The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 5,6%, compared with 4,7% in February 2026. The outstanding amount of total deposits reached €57,8 billion in March 2026.

Deposits of Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €344,1 million. More analytically, households’ deposits decreased by €138,1 million, while deposits of non-financial corporations recorded an increase of €158,3 million. Deposits of the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total increase of €323,9 million.

Total loans in March 2026 recorded a net increase of €528,1 million, compared with a net increase of €326,2 million in February 2026. The annual growth rate of total loans stood at 12,6%, compared with 12,3% in February 2026. The outstanding amount of total loans reached €27,9 billion in March 2026.

Loans to Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €72,3 million. More analytically, loans to households and non-financial corporations increased by €52,3 million and €37,3 million respectively. Loans to the remaining domestic sectors2 exhibited a total decrease of €17,3 million.
