The Central Bank of Cyprus has today published the “Monetary Policy Implementation in Cyprus” report for 2024. The main developments regarding the monetary policy operations in Cyprus are summarized as follows:
- Liquidity in Cyprus’s banking sector at the end of 2024 closed at €19,2 billion, exhibiting a decrease by €4,5 billion compared to 2023.
- The monetary policy portfolio, decreased from 7,6 billion to 6,5 billion euros during 2024.
- Excess liquidity in Cyprus’s banking sector decreased from €22,9 billion at the end of 2023 to €18,5 billion at the end of 2024 due to the repayment of the European Central Bank's targeted long-term refinancing operations (TLTROs) and an increase in the level of minimum reserve requirements.
