CBC Governor in panel discussion at the 10th “Banking Forum and Fintech EXPO”
The Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Constantinos Herodotou, was in a panel discussion today at the 10th “Banking Forum and Fintech EXPO”. The 10th “Banking Forum and Fintech EXPO” which took place in Nicosia, focused on “Sustainability, Digitization, Profitability”.
Having accepted the invitation of Mr. Herodotou, Mr Andrea Enria, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank, joined the Governor in the same panel. The Chair and the Governor discussed topical issues related to the financial industry and the opportunities digitization brings to the banking sector.
In his statement, the Governor underlined the challenges the new business environment creates for Banks. He also emphasized the resilience that the banking system has shown to date and the need to move more decisively in the direction of digital transformation.
During the forum, local and foreign experts analyzed the challenges and trends related to green financing, regulations for increased transparency, as well as issues related to digital transformation and sustainable profitability of credit institutions.
