Whistleblowing to the ΕCB -SSM

The EU Regulation establishing the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM), which formally commenced on 4 November 2014, includes a provision in respect of undisclosed or signed reporting of breaches, i.e. whistleblower reports.  Under the SSM, persons with information on potential breaches of relevant EU laws including EU Directives which have been transposed into national law, by credit institutions which are directly under the supervision of the SSM, and/or by competent authorities of the Eurosystem, including the Central Bank of Cyprus, can report such breaches to the European Central Bank (ECB). The ECB has established a reporting mechanism for receipt of reports of breaches and their follow-up.  A link to the relevant area of the ECB website is available here
