The Central Bank of Cyprus has today released the MFIs deposits and loans statistics for the reference month of June 2019, which are included in the July 2019 edition of Monetary and Financial Statistics. It should be noted that the data for the reference month of December 2018 were revised in accordance with the audited financial statements of the MFIs. Therefore, the data for all the months from January to May 2019 were revised accordingly.
Total deposits in June 2019 recorded a net increase of €46,0 million, compared with a net increase of €688,3 million in May 2019. The annual growth rate reached 3,3%, compared with 1,7% in May 2019. The outstanding amount of deposits reached €48,4 billion in June 2019.
Total loans in June 2019 exhibited a net increase of €128,9 million, compared with a net increase of €37,8 million in May 2019. Nevertheless, the outstanding amount of loans decreased by €3,9 billion in June 2019 and reached €34,1 billion. The difference between the net change and the change of the outstanding amount of loans is attributed to reclassification, revaluation, exchange rate or other adjustments. The annual growth rate stood at -2,3%, compared with -2,1% in May 2019.
