The Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Cyprus has released the external data statistics (balance of payments, international investment position and external debt) for the first quarter of 2017 (2017Q1).
According to the latest provisional balance of payments data for 2017Q1, the current account recorded a deficit of €721,1 million, compared with a surplus of €73,2 million in 2016Q1. The international investment position of Cyprus in 2017Q1 recorded a small deterioration, reaching a net liability position of €23.056,5 million, compared with €22.452,7 million in the previous quarter. The external debt of Cyprus amounted to €108.322,0 million in 2017Q1, compared with €106.912,0 million in 2016Q1.
